Tattoo Removal
The most daring and exciting thing about getting a tattoo is your commitment to its permanency- unfortunately, that's also the thing we most regret about our decisions. Blaine Dermatology is happy to let you know that tattoos no longer have to be forever. Our laser tattoo removal is a an easy process that safely and effectively reduces the risk of scarring in the removal process. Unlike past treatments, our laser removal is a relative quick and easy process, which may leave behind minimal scabbing or crusting after the process is complete.
Laser Tattoo Removal
Across the country, tattoos have been rapidly growing in popularity, and in turn, the demand for removing tattoos has also grown. According to 2006 research, almost a third of young Americans (18-25) have at least one tattoo, and more than 40% of Americans aged 26-40 have one or more. The research also states that half of all tattooed individuals will want to remove their tattoo at some point in their life. People will want their tattoos removed for a variety of reasons, whether its a former partner's names that is to be banished from their skin, to follow a work appearance regulation, or to just get rid of a youthful mistake, we understand your need.
Laser tattoo removal is a safe and effective way to clean your slate with no risk for infections or severe scarring. The length of the process will depend on each individual tattoo, and treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The process may feel somewhat uncomfortable, but shouldn't be painful. The clinic has topical anesthetics to help with any pain before or after the removal treatment process. Laser tattoo removal can also be used to treat unwanted pigments or birthmarks in the skin. Ask your dermatologist about your options.
What type of tattoos can you remove?
Laser tattoo removal can be used in the removal of all kinds of tattoos, including professional, amateur/homemade tattoos, and surgical tattoos.
How many treatments does it take to complete the removal?
In general, it takes about six to eight treatments to completely clear a professional level tattoo. Amateur tattoos usually require slightly less time, about four to five treatments. All treatments need to spaced about four to six weeks apart from each other. Other factors can also influence the amount of time the treatment process takes, such as the type of ink used, amount of ink used, and the depth of the ink marked in your skin.
Will there be color left behind?
Generally speaking, dark inks (blues and blacks) and red inks will be cleared the easiest. Colors like orange and purple will fade pretty well. The most difficult colors to remove are yellow inks and green inks. It may take longer to remove these colors and require extra treatments to increase the fading.
Will laser tattoo removal remove the tattoo completely?
In most cases, the answer is yes. In general, we see about 95% fading of most tattoos that come into our office. We can't guarantee 100% removal because of the vast variety of inks that amateur and professional tattoo artists use, and none of these inks are FDA regulated. Our dermatologists cannot predict the removal degree without the information on the type of tattoo ink and how deep it was applied.

Testimonials
"I was really embarrassed when I started to experience acne problems when I was pushing 30. I struggled with acne in high school, but I thought those irritating and awful problems were behind me. The Blaine clinic helped me learn more about the causes behind adult acne and what kind of treatment I could use to keep it under control. Their treatments have been phenomenal and I'm really glad that I don't have to deal with hiding my face anymore!"
